Plastering is an art that comes with experience, we take pride in our ability to be a cut above the rest, plastering is one of the first things you see in a home and a great job makes all the difference.
We take on all types of work, if its an inside or outside job we do it all, with lots of experience in different types of products and finishes.
Damp proofing is a specialist sector that needs an experienced contractor to solve. We have seen customers that have had poor diagnosis of the root problem resulting in recurrent damp problems. Its best to get the job done right first time!
From the roof down to the ground water can penetrate anywhere in our homes in a variety of ways. We inspect and remedy any and all situations for a comfortable warm home.
Cause: Rising damp is caused by water from the ground being drawn up through the permeable wall, this is a process called capillary action. The most common cause of this is a failed damp proof course.
Solution: Insert a chemical damp proof coarse.
Cause: Penetrating damp is most commonly due to an excessive amount of water coming into contact with the building’s structure. If your building has been built with a solid wall, (generally those built prior to 1920’s had no cavity), then you are more likely to experience penetrating damp.
Solution: Find and resolve the penetration area and remove wet plaster back to the brick ready for a new waterproof system.
Cause: Condensation is caused by airborne moisture, which condenses after finding cold surfaces such as windows or walls. Water vapour then cools back to water beads that drip onto unprotected surfaces.
Solution: Install a ventilation system in the correct areas.
Cause: Wet rot occurs when excessive levels of moisture come into contact with timbers over a period of time. Timbers which are inadequately treated with preservatives and those which are in contact with masonry are at higher risk of wet rot formation.
Solution: Finding the excess of moisture in the building first before industrial dehumidifiers and specialist chemicals treat the wood.
Cause: Dry rot in timber occurs when airborne dry rot spores come into contact with wet timbers. The most common reason why dry rot in timber occurs is due to blocked sub floor vents, timbers being in contact with damp masonry and from leaking pipe work. This prevents moisture under the property being ventilated.
Solution: The cause of excess moisture must be resolved before replacing affected areas.
Cause: Woodworm is an insect infestation that will continue to grow unless properly treated, the larvae tunnel through the wood creating their distinctive pin like holes.
Solution: Moisture again is a key factor that must be addressed, after this the wood may need drying, treating or replacing.
